Militants dedicated to the Second World War were always abundant (in fact, the history of the Shutra genre with a first -person view began with such a game – Wolfenstein 3D, if anyone forgot). Of course, there were real hits with multimillion -dollar budgets, and “middle peasants”, and outright garbage. But almost all of them were focused on solitary passage, and the multiplayer, if present, was present, then as a pleasant appendage, no more. Only Battlefield 1942, mod for Half-Life Day of Defeat and Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 can be considered noticeable exceptions. The battles to the “battlefield” soon moved to another time and place, DOD, except for the transition to Source, did not develop in any way, but the creators of the Red Chapel decided to please their fans with a full -fledged continuation.
The game does not skimp on cruel shots. If you do everything “how actually”, so to the end – with blood, torn of the limbs and other horrors of war.
Heroes of Lagograd
I will not be mistaken if I say that after the release of the debut trailer, interest in RO2 Even those who were never fond of such games appeared – there was so good video. Tanks
, raiding enemy trenches under the shelling, sniper shootouts – the level of pathos went off the way, the picture pleased the eye, and the presence of dismemberment even in the video said that the authors would not be ceremony with age ratings.
The chosen lucky ones who gained access to the beta test, for some reason, did not share the violent joy of ordinary mortals, quietly scolded Beto for unstable work, but continued to play-you won’t drag it out of their ears.
As it turned out soon, Hayali RO2 No wonder – it’s ridiculous to say, but in Bete there were fewer bugs than in the release. Or Tripwire I did not count on so many connections to the servers, or she had to release a seriously unfinished product (despite the fact that the release date at the last moment was postponed for two weeks), but at first it was impossible to play this.
Seven years ago, an unknown team of programmers released a modification for Unreal Tournament 2004 Red Orchestra: Combined Arms. A mod dedicated to battles on the eastern front of the Second World War was so good that its developers won the Make Someting Unreal contest. This brought them, in addition to a solid amount of money, a license to use the Unreal Engine 2 engine.5 for commercial purposes.
Soon, the modification changed the name, acquired a couple of new features and was published as a full-fledged project-Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45. Without gaining great glory, she still turned out to be a very worthy representative of her genre. Even more – a similar concept in the militants has not yet met. The shooter found it, albeit not a large, but the right audience, and the developers got their happy ticket to the game industry liner. And, I must say, they did not get the places at all economy class.
If “Heroes of Stalingrad” They did not hilt tightly at loading, then they certainly flew to the desktop when changing the card or right during the battle, without any visible reason. The “thirty -four” stuck in half -meter fences, the soldiers passed through concrete walls, and the art support covered the air with gaps of fifty meters above the ground … It was generally fearful to look into the statistics – they lived whole divisions of allegedly destroyed tanks, “Achivka” were distributed for sniper shooting and passagecampaign.
But mistakes are fixable. Patches came out promptly, removing flaws (sometimes adding new ones), and RO2 Everything is good. Finally, after the latest patch at the moment, which, in addition to other corrections, resumes funny statistics, we can finally say that we have a full-fledged game.
Real war
Unfamiliar with the series Red Orchestra It may seem that this is another Battlefield. Almost the same division into classes, armored vehicles, capture of points, pumping weapons – except that there are smaller cards and no aviation. In fact, not everything is so simple. At first, you will have to die often and not only because of crooked hands. All because one bullet in the body or head is almost always enough to kill. If you get into the hand or leg, then this does not save: you did not have time to toss up – you will bleed and die soon. True, the ligation occurs so quickly that compared to a completely realistic damage system looks a little ridiculous – a fighter like tie the laces crouched.
In general, the authors tried to focus as much as possible on the realism of what was happening. Soldiers get tired after several seconds of running, there is true ballistics, and bullets and shells break through some obstacles (hiding from a machine gunner behind a wooden wall – a bad idea). Novelty for shooters – the moral state of the character is modeled: when a comrade dies before your eyes, the picture loses color, the image blurs out, the heartbeat and heavy sighs of our fighter are heard – it is terrible for him. The same thing happens with a close artillery or when the enemy puts the bullets very close.
During the PR campaign, the creators praised their system of shelters with might and main. Yes, yes, it’s now fashionable, so in RO2 You can also by pressing the “stick” button to the wall and, sticking out the barrel from around the corner, shoot towards the enemy. Sometimes you even kill someone. Nothing new? Except that all this is with a first -person view, then really. Although, to be honest, this feature looks beautiful only in rollers, and sometimes it even interferes in the game (especially if you take into account the fact that one action button is responsible for the selection of weapons, and for shelters, and for using a stationary machine gun).
Sound accompaniment is beyond praise. Shooting, explosions, clanging caterpillars and the roar of the engines are made as it should, everything was in order in the first part. But with the voice acting, it turned out not so smoothly: in the “foreign” version “Heroes of Stalingrad” Soviet soldiers talk on a terrible mixture from English words and a Russian mat. Sometimes it turns out funny, but still exclamations like “Tovarisch, Cover me!”, And even uttered with a terrible pseudo -Russian accent, cut a hearing. Do not want a circus – put the domestic localization, it is much better than the original.
Due to the small size of the locations, no tactics smell. The commander only indicates which point to capture or defend, throws smoke grenades and calls Artudar in difficult times. There is not enough variety in technology and truly large cards, which, for example, were in addition to the first part of Red Orchestra- Darkest Hour. There was already where to turn around by the commander -in -law talent. No, another ARMA is not necessary, but in Heroes of Stalingrad The success of the team mostly depends on the personal skill of individual players, and not on competent command. We are waiting for DLC?
MG-34, like the rest of the weapon, is drawn to the smallest details. With textures of the surfaces of business is much worse.
Salvation of Private Ivanov
With what Heroes of Stalingrad not like the rest of the militants, you will not argue. And almost all the differences in favor Tripwire Interactive, which managed to make a really original game – the balance between realism, dynamics of action and cinematics of what is happening leads to the feeling that you are watching a film about the war from the first person. And not some cranberries like “enemy at the gate”, but a serious picture, where the enemy is not a stupid mass at all. And this is all in network mode-it means that there will be no scripting scenes and enemies that are reviving around the angle at the command of the game designer.
There is a feeling that the Western developers have all the Great Patriotic War of two battles – Stalingrad battle and assault on Berlin. It is these two cities that are most often found in projects dedicated to battles on the Eastern Front.
As you can see, Tripwire Interactive no exception, but here you feel a completely different approach to studying the topic. The authors went to Volgograd, carefully examined the places of battles, consulted with experts. All this was in the best way affected the authenticity of maps – some territories in RO2 look one in one as in the photographs of the war.
Stalingrad elevator – real and virtual:
But Red Orchestra 2 Takes to others. You run around the field on the attack, the murdered comrades fall nearby, the commander calls the shelling and puts a smoke curtain, among the few survivors you burst into the enemy trench and in a bayonet battle you grab a point. Having taken a sniper rifle, you climb onto the roof of the house broken by the bombing and “shooting” nothing suspecting adversaries until the enemy realizes what is what and directs to the destruction of the boring shooter a whole tank. Or you are shaking in an iron box, trying to see the enemy armored vehicles through triplexes (Hello, World of Tanks). From such moments, the spirit is breathtaking.
Of course, when the first delight passes over time, you begin to notice large and not very blunders. Almost on every building it is written that it was this house “… Sergeant Yakov Fedotovich Pavlov ”, brave tankers in forty -degree frost boldly grab the ice metal of the hatches with their bare hands, and the Katyush volley is not able to break out a small shed ..
Red Orchestra 2 – the perfect choice for those parliament to whom Armed Assault I do not like because of high complexity and leisurely gameplay, and Call of Duty And Battlefield seemed too casual. And the rest should try your hand at the battle for Stalingrad. But if Tripwire Interactive will not start releasing DLC with new equipment and cards in the very near future, then Heroes of Stalingrad The fate of the first part of the series will befall – except for a relatively small community about the game in a year, no one will remember.
Pros: Realism is not to the detriment of dynamics;atmospheric voice acting fighters;excellent sounds of weapons;compliance of locations for real places of battles.
Cons: lack of large cards;little destroyed objects;Only two models of technology.
